What is ThinkCashback about?

ThinkCashback is a FREE online shopping directory with a difference - we pay you cash discounts for shopping via the directory. At ThinkCashback, the only difference between shopping through our directory and the individual retailers themselves is the savings. Same retailers, same products, same prices. By shopping through ThinkCashback you can earn up to cash discounts on each and every purchase. The retailers give us commissions to send shoppers to their sites, and we give those commissions right back to you in the form of cash back.

Why was the discount I received less than I expected?

This could be for a number or reasons. Usually it is because most of the retailers pay the cashback on the amount before any VAT or delivery charges are added so the cash back you receive will not be the true percentage you were expecting against the total order amount.

It could be that not all the items you purchased qualify for cashback (see the rules against each retailer in the directory), or you may have added other items to your shopping basket in another session.

It is important that you make all your purchases at the same time and complete your order for your purchases to qualify for cashback. Most retailers will allow you to add items to your shopping basket, log out and return later that day, or even another day to complete your order. Please note that should you do this, even if you click through from ThinkCashback every time, only the original items added in the first session will qualify for cashback. Although each retailers rules vary, it is best to always ensure that you complete your order in the same session.

The discount could be less if you returned part of the order and thus part of the expected cashback was removed

Why has a discount been removed from my account?

This happens if the purchase was not successful, for example, if you return the product to the retailer, or you return the product and exchange it for another (only the original purchase item qualifies for cash back).

Can I use special offers and coupons and still earn a discount?

Yes, special offers or coupons available at a retailer are separate to the cash back offer from ThinkCashback, unless otherwise stated. We try hard to provide you with the latest offers available to maximise your savings. If you choose to use such coupons or take special offers we cannot guarantee that you will be eligible to receive them. You will need to check the retailer's rules with regard to these. Importantly, please note that unless a coupon is displayed on the ThinkCashback website, the retailer may not provide us with the cashback and honour the code. Only codes displayed on the ThinkCashback 'Coupons' page are eligible to be used in addition to receiving cashback. ThinkCashback tries to present the most accurate offers but cannot make guarantees due to the time-sensitive nature of these promotions.

What Browser and Security Settings do I need to use ThinkCashback?

If you have Norton Internet Security, Zone Alarm Pro, another firewall or any ad, cookie or popup blocking software then it could be that they are affecting the retailer links on ThinkCashback, or in our newsletter, meaning that the links either do not work correctly or your cashback purchases are not tracked. You need to disable the cookie/ad/popup blocking features of these programs. It is important to keep any anti-virus software enabled and this will not affect the tracking of your cashback. What if I want to return or cancel an order?

Returns are subject to the return policy of the retailer from whom you purchased. If you return or cancel an item, we have to reverse any discount from that sale. Returns (also deemed as exchanges) make a discount ineligible. In the process of an exchange, the merchant cancels the old order and replaces it with a new one. When doing this, the ThinkCashback commission gets reversed and a new commission is not established because the retailer has created the new order (thus meaning the order was not completed through ThinkCashback - but placed through the retailer directly - we cannot track exchanges). Because of this, the retailer will not pay us the commission, which means we have no discount to pass on to you. To avoid loosing the discount - In future transactions, please make sure all returns are final and that it is not an exchange. Have the retailer refund your credit card, and then re-place the order through us to receive the discount.

What is referring?

Tell your friends and family about how you can save via shopping through ThinkCashback. When someone you refer makes their first qualifying purchase, we'll credit your account with £2 at no cost to them. Please remember we only allow one account per person.

Why I have not received payment for a friend I referred?

When you refer someone you receive the referral bonus once they make their first qualifying purchase. A qualifying purchase is any cashback discount made by them via the ThinkCashback website except cash back earned during the signup process (co-registrations) and cashback earned for searches or clicks, including ThinkCashback web search.

Do all purchases I make at any ThinkCashback retailer earn me discounts?

Yes, if you start at ThinkCashback every time you shop there. If you do not click through ThinkCashback prior to entering the merchant site, you will not be credited with a discount. There are some products and/or services at some retailers which do not qualify for discounts, or qualify at different rates. This information will be displayed on the 'Conditions' page with that retailer. If you click through ThinkCashback and make a purchase, then surf elsewhere on the Web and return to that retailer and make a second purchase, your second purchase will not earn a discount. You must click through ThinkCashback every time you shop at a retailer's site.

How do I earn cashback for shopping?

Simply log on to ThinkCashback (or sign up if you haven't yet joined), pick one of our hundreds of quality retailers from the shopping categories, and then shop as you normally would. We'll take care of crediting your account with the discount you've earned on all your purchases. Payments are made monthly by cheque, Paypal, BACS or Amazon gift voucher (If your discounts are under £25, we'll carry over your money to the next payment.)

Are my transactions secure when going through ThinkCashback?

Always. We only partner with retailers who offer the highest security. When you check out at any of our retailers, you are on the safest possible connection, a Secure Socket Layer (SSL). We do not capture any credit card information on the ThinkCashback site, so we do not need such SSL here, although you will find that your profile page is secure. All credit card security is handled by the retailers themselves.

Will ThinkCashback sell information about me or my purchase habits?

No, never.

What are "cookies" and how do I enable them?

Cookies are simply text files that allow a site to recognize you when you return. This means you don't have to log-in again and again. Cookies used by ThinkCashback and our network of retailers are completely safe and they are enabled by default with most browsers.

Will I start receiving "spam" if I join?

No. We will never sell your information to any third party. We do send our own members information related to savings and special offers as they become available, but you may unsubscribe from our email lists at any time by click the subscriptions options link in the newsletter.

I have tried to refer friends using the 'refer friends' link but they have not received the referral email. Why?

It could be that your friends' email host is treating the emails as spam and either deleting them, or putting them into a 'bulk' mail folder automatically. You can ask them to check for this, and add the email address ThinkCashback@ThinkCashback.co.uk into their address book which will ensure that they receive your emails from the refer friends page. Alternatively, you can send them a personal email yourself with your referral link which you can find on the refer friends page.

When I sign up an offer, if I use a different email address to the one I registered with ThinkCashback, will it impact the cash back? Do I need to use my ThinkCashback email address when I take an offer?

No, you do not need to use your ThinkCashback email address when taking an offer as our tracking does not rely on this. However, it is advisible to use your registered ThinkCashback email address when taking offers as it would speed up any manual tracking process should this be required.

I contacted a retailer about a missing cashback but they said they have not heard of ThinkCashback. Why is this?

We rarely deal with the retailers directly, but 3rd party marketing companies who then deal with the merchants on our behalf. It is very specialist and customer service staff at the various merchants are unlikely to know about this business. If you have an enquiry, always contact us, not the merchant.

Where a website has separate departments, do I need to make separate order in order to qualify for cashback?

Many retailers, for example Amazon, have separate departments within their website. Unless stated otherwise you can shop from several different departments as one order and receive cashback.

I haven't been receiving all the cashback expected from the 'repeat events' retailers

The 'repeat event' retailers (shopping.com, Kelkoo, carsource etc.) reserve the right to pay for transactions. Their daily limits are per user across all of their partners. This means that if you have already made searches and clicks via another Shopping.com partner (maybe even unknowingly) then that partner will receive the credit and not us.

Unfortunately, for the reasons outlined above we are unable to make any enquiries into these types of transactions.

How long does it take for cashback to be cleared?

Cashback is cleared once we have received the funds from the retailer for the transactions. This varies from retailer to retailer but is usually 30 - 60 days. If retailer payments are delayed it can take up to 90 days. Note: This is an automated process.

How soon is the cash back credited to my account?

This depends upon the type of offer and the retailer. Cashback is usually posted as 'pending' within 24 hours. Approval of transactions can take up to 30 days. Some retailers are able to approve your purchase as soon as the product is posted to you. Some, however, cannot confirm your purchase until the return period for the product you have purchased has elapsed. Once the retailer finalises the purchase details, we will update your account. Cashback is 'cleared' once we reveive payment from the retailer for your tansaction(s). This usually takes between 30 and 60 days.

When do I get my payment?

Every month, we send you payment for 'cleared' cashback provided you have accrued at least £25. If your discounts are under £25, we will carry over your money to the next payment. Payments are made on or around the 15th of the month, on the closest working day, depending on weekends and bank holidays.

What's the catch? How can you give away 'free money'?

There's no catch! We are dedicated to the idea of giving our members maximum value in the form of big discounts! Everytime you click on an advertisement online, someone makes money. With ThinkCashback, we share that income with you in the form of cashback. By going through ThinkCashback you go to the same website as if you went directly at the retailer's website itself - except you get cash back on your purchases.
